The opposite of software, hardware, is covered elsewhere in the table of IT elements by Computers, Technology, the Internet and the Cloud. Everything else is either software or human (wetware!) We only know that software exists because the coded instructions therein allow things to happen to more tangible things that we can see or experience outside of the technology.
Software is a very malleable substance, which makes it very flexible to create (program), but it can also become complex, unmanageable and prone to errors (bugs) – the so-called ‘software problem’.
That’s just a little taster of what this IT element is all about. To find out more, why not Ask the IT Chemist.
