
As a freelance Business Analyst I know the value of introductions and making a good first impression; looking smart, firm handshake, eye contact etc. you know how it works. I also know – despite what some people will tell you – that there can be more than one chance to make a first impression!
Let me put it another way, every formal meeting, chance encounter, telephone conversation, text or email can provide an opportunity to start again and re-calibrate a relationship, if not enable a complete reboot.
I will concede that the first first impression may be the biggie and professional & social relationships can be seriously damaged or enhanced in the early interactions, subject to the subtleties of non-verbal communication…remember though, you only have 7 seconds to get it right…!
I also know, fellow readers, that my chosen profession (or did it choose me?!) is a tough sell, and if you are still here several paragraphs after reading the phrase ‘Business Analyst’, I salute you.
